FORT EISENHOWER, Ga. (WJBF) – U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff announced he is introducing legislation that would improve national security with the construction of new facilities at Fort Eisenhower.
According to a press release from Sen. Ossoff’s office, the bill, entitled the Fort Eisenhower National Support Act, would authorize the construction of a National Guard and Reserve Readiness Center on the military base.
“Fort Eisenhower is critical to U.S. national security, and Georgia’s servicemembers and reservists are always on my mind,” Sen. Ossoff said. “This is why I have introduced the Fort Eisenhower National Guard Support Act to ensure they have state-of-the-art facilities to carry out important missions and training.”
As the current facility lacks adequate space for assigned units and equipment, the act, if passed, will enhance the Georgia Army National Guard’s readiness and capabilities, according to the press release.
Back in January of this year, Sen. Ossoff and Sen. Raphael Warnock passed into law the Fort Eisenhower Development Center Expansion Act, which will assist in providing high-quality education to the area’s military children.
