A growing chain of eclectic sandwich shops will soon open its first Long Island location.
Compton’s, a favorite of the denizens of such trendy New York City neighborhoods as Long Island City and Greenpoint, is coming to a long-vacant 1,500-square-foot space at 5 Jackson Ave. in Syosset.

The fast-casual concept is the brainchild of sandwich bros Alex Compton and Jimmy Collins, who grew up in Westchester County and have been friends since high school. Compton, a former commercial mortgage broker, and Collins, a serial entrepreneur, opened their first Compton’s eatery in Astoria in 2018.
Compton’s isn’t their only joint business venture. The pair own a marketing agency called Upside Media, as well as a vinyl wrapping service. But the growing sandwich chain, with its slogan “Everybody Eats,” is certainly their tastiest enterprise.
“There is an attention to detail on how the food is prepared and we use the freshest ingredients daily,” Compton told LIBN. “It’s our take on New York classics with our touch of elevation. We have house-made sauces and bread that’s unique to Compton’s.”

Straight out of Compton’s menu are a wide variety of creative hand-held offerings, including the popular Vodka Chicken Parm, made of chicken cutlets, melted sharp provolone, ricotta spread and a house vodka sauce; Chopped Cheese, combining Angus beef, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo and ketchup; and the Burrata BLT, with fresh burrata, bacon, arugula, tomato, mayo and fig balsamic drizzle on a toasted seeded semolina hero.
Compton’s menu also includes a selection of wraps, burgers, cheesesteaks, salads and breakfast sandwiches like the New Yorker, two over-medium eggs with a choice of bacon, sausage, ham or turkey bacon, American cheese and red pepper aioli. Sides choices include tater tots, jalapeno poppers, potato salad, corn nuggets, French fries and more. Besides dine-in and take-out options, Compton’s also offers catering.
The Syosset Compton’s will be owned and operated by Silas David, a franchisee who also owns a Compton’s franchise in Whitestone. The all-in cost to open a Compton’s sandwich shop ranges from $200,000 to $350,000.
Currently, there are Compton’s locations in Long Island City, Astoria, Greenpoint, Whitestone and Cliffside Park, N.J. The Syosset shop is slated to open this spring, and the company will soon open another in Manhattan’s East Village.
The chain is seeking more sites and franchisees to open here and around the New York metropolitan area.
Stephanie D’Amato of Cosentino Realty Group represented Compton’s, as well as the landlord, Syosset Station LLC, in the Syosset lease transaction.
