Samsung unveiling ‘Project Moohan’ Android XR headset at MWC 2025

Must read

Samsung announced Project Moohan alongside Android XR in December, and provided another look alongside the Galaxy S25 launch in January. Samsung’s Android XR headset is now set for an unveiling at MWC 2025.

According to Samsung’s overview/preview of MWC 2025 (March 3-6), the company “will unveil its first Android XR headset, Project Moohan, offering a glimpse into the future of AI-powered extended reality.”

By integrating multimodal AI with advanced XR capabilities, this ground-breaking device marks a significant step toward more context-aware and personalized experiences that enhance everyday life in incredibly immersive ways.

Samsung and Google announced the Project Moohan (“infinity” in Korean) developer kit in mid-December. During my 30-minute hands-on, I was told it was close to the final hardware that will ship to consumers in 2025.

At the time, we learned it’s powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 and has an external battery. You can use other, larger packs that connect via USB-C. Before the public announcement, some partners were given units to ready apps, while more developers received it in December.

In January, Samsung let Unpacked 2025 attendees take pictures of the headset:

Hopefully, this upcoming MWC unveil will give us the final name, price, and shipping date. Final specs would also be nice. In my experience, the headset is lightweight and the hardware is polished.

We weren’t expecting this announcement until later in 2025, with the Unpacked (in the summer) announcing this year’s foldables more likely. Then again, we might not even get a ship date this week or one that is still a few months away.

Samsung already announced the Galaxy A56 5G, A36 5G and A26 5G, while we can also expect an “exclusive look at Galaxy S25 Edge” at MWC 2025.
