Samsung is redesigning Good Lock with One UI 7 alongside global Play Store release

Must read

Samsung’s Good Lock allows for deep customizations to One UI without the need for root or any other complex mods, but the framework is limited to certain regions, and only accessible via the Galaxy Store. That’s changing in 2025, though, as Good Lock will be coming to the Google Play Store and all countries as Samsung expands the feature alongside One UI 7.

Good Lock has been available for several years at this point and the feature is designed to allow users to gain further control over the software. Between modifications to the first-party Samsung launcher to the ability to run any app on the Galaxy Z Flip’s cover display, it can really address some shortcomings of Samsung’s Android skin, and even solve some real problems.

In One UI 7, Samsung will be expanding Good Lock to more users as the feature is not only expanding to “all” countries, but will also be coming to the Google Play Store.

Samsung confirmed the news in a forum post (via) where a company representative said that Good Lock in One UI 7 “can be used in all countries.” Distribution will also be made available via the Google Play Store, rather than only through the Galaxy Store.

Starting with One UI 7.0 Good Lock, Good Lock can be downloaded from the Play Store as well as the Galaxy Store, and Good Lock can be used in all countries. This is something that many customers have been asking for, and we expect that this will provide more convenient accessibility to more Galaxy users.

This won’t be the only big change, though, as Samsung is also redesigning the Good Lock app, explaining (translated) that “the overall composition of the main app has been changed to improve UI convenience.” The post goes on to explain that this will include a filter for specific Good Lock apps and a new “My Page” tab that will let users better manage Good Lock apps. Samsung adds that several Good Lock apps that aren’t currently available with One UI 7 will be updated soon.

One UI 7, Samsung’s Android 15 update, is currently in beta on the Galaxy S24 series, and set to launch on the Galaxy S25 series later in January.
