Roseburg Police cited a woman for the theft of a shopping cart on Monday.

An RPD report said at 2:30 p.m. officers contacted the 39-year-old at the duck pond in the 1000 block of Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard. The woman was reportedly in possession of a shopping cart belonging to Walgreens. She had been warned two weeks ago about being in possession of a shopping cart.

The woman claimed the cart had been given to her by a friend who had owned it for 15 years, even though the cart was brand new. The woman was cited for third-degree theft and was released on the scene. The cart was later returned to Walgreens.
