Residents enjoy Black Friday shopping

Must read

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – It is the day after Thanksgiving, and that means millions of people around the country hit the stores for Black Friday to find the best deals for Christmas.

K8 News went out around Jonesboro and talked to shoppers.

It’s a personal preference every year on whether or not people decide to go shopping on Black Friday, but for Margret King and Charles Hooks, it is a tradition.

“The strategy that we use is like two more sisters that are not present with me right now,” King said, “It’s like one go find towels, the others will go find jackets or toys, so it’s a strategy we use and at the end we meet up at the register.”

“It’s a family tradition, we will go early in the morning, might do it on a Saturday,” Hooks said, “We usually do it on Thursday but since COVID-19 they do it on Fridays now.”

Some shoppers, like Gage Staib, say it’s not as crazy as they thought it was going to be, while others think differently.

“I thought it was going to be crazy but we’ve been driving around all morning and it’s really not as busy as I thought it was going to be,” Staib said.

“At 7 a.m. when the stores hit, everybody running in to get their stuff and then they try to get their stuff and get out of the store,” Hooks said.

Black Friday can also be seen as another way to spend time with your family or friends during Thanksgiving weekend.

“Just being together, bonding, and collecting items for Christmas for the youth or for each other is exciting and it’s something we look forward to every year,” King said.

Shoppers shared some advice for those who plan on shopping the rest of the day, on the weekend, or for holiday shopping in general.

“Make a list before and look over what they have for sale. Be prepared before you go in the store,” Hooks said.

“Get up early, that’s what I can tell you. Get your rest, get up early, and be ready to shop,” King said.
