DUNNSTOWN — Smith Furniture, named Best Furniture Store in the 2024 Lock Haven Express Readers’ Choice Awards, reopened in September stronger than ever, nearly four years after a severe snowstorm forced them to temporarily relocate.
Last year, Smith Furniture celebrated the opening of its new showroom at 116 Woodward Ave., Lock Haven, the site the store operated for most of its over 75-year history.
When a December 2020 snow storm caused the roof of Smith Furniture’s showroom to collapse, it marked the start of a new chapter. The rebuilt, single-floor gallery is now handicap accessible, conveniently located near the reupholstery shop and warehouse and features brighter lighting for a refreshed shopping experience.
The new and improved showroom features a comprehensive selection of bedroom, living room, dining room and home office furniture, as well as Kingsdown and Serta mattresses. Now offering an expanded selection of living room sets and recliners, including power-lift options, the store provides more choices than ever for comfort and style, catering to a wide range of needs and preferences. This includes a selection of often American-made products from reputable brands like Whittier Wood Furniture, Vaughan-Bassett, Catnapper, Lancer, England Furniture, Barcalounger, Southern Motion, Kingsdown, Irvin’s Tinware and Bill and Jacobs.
“All the inventory just seems to look better,” said Jim Smith, who owns and operates the business alongside his brother Jeff. “It pops better with the new showroom.”

“Right now we’re offering an additional 10 percent off our sale prices, and we’re doing this to try to make it more affordable for people receiving their income tax refund checks, or for anybody really,” said Smith.
With a range of financing options, including a one-year same-as-cash option and a robust clearance center, the business is centering affordability for customers.
Smith Furniture is open on weekdays, from Monday to Thursday and Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
