A White Texas business owner didn’t have standing to challenge as racially biased a program designed to help small businesses financially recover from the Covid-19 pandemic, a federal court said.
R. Greg Gomm and his business, DigitalDesk Inc., were denied funds under the Bexar County Small Business Assistance Program. They said that the denial violated their equal protection rights under the Constitution because it was based in part on the color of Gomm’s skin.
The grants were awarded based on a scoring system that gave companies owned by veterans, women, or minorities six additional points.
