Augustana named a ‘Best College’ by Money

Augustana College was one of five national liberal arts colleges in Illinois named to Money’s 2024 “Best Colleges in America” list.

Money analyzed 745 four-year colleges based on graduation rates, cost of attendance, financial aid, alumni salaries and more in its ranking, according to a news release. Augustana earned a 4.5 star ranking in the 2024 list. The other national liberal arts colleges in Illinois named to the “Best Colleges” were Wheaton College, Lake Forest College, Knox College and Illinois College.

Money, founded in 1972 as a print magazine, ranked the schools on its list by 25 factors in three categories: quality of education, affordability and outcomes.

“We’re pleased to continue to receive recognition as a leading national liberal arts school that provides great value and an excellent educational experience to students,” President Andrea Talentino said. “We know Augustana students are shaped by the engaged learning experiences provided by our skilled faculty and staff, which positions them to achieve their life and career goals.”

Palmer earns Circle of Excellence Award

The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) recently announced the recipients of its 2024 Circle of Excellence Awards. Palmer College of Chiropractic, headquartered in Davenport, received the Silver Circle of Excellence Award for its multi-year campaign “Daring and Driven: The Campaign for Palmer College.”

“It’s an incredibly meaningful honor,” Barbara Melbourne, J.D., Palmer’s vice chancellor for institutional advancement, said in a news release. “The award speaks to the countless hours of committed work carried out by Palmer staff and the boundless generosity of our alumni and friends.”

Daring and Driven: The Campaign for Palmer College — the largest campaign ever undertaken by a college — shattered records and energed the college’s more than 31,000 alumni, according to the release. The multi-year campaign concluded with $30.2 million raised and nearly 1,200 new donors reached.

“What a success story for Palmer College, which, before the campaign, had .8% alumni participation, a deficient database, and no fundraising staff,” one of the competition judges said. “How can we not all be reminded of what can be accomplished through a systematic approach, strategic advanced planning, sheer optimism and unrelenting effort?”
