PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (Nov. 11, 2024) – Prairie View A&M University is excited to announce the first-ever Virtual National Center for Infrastructure Transformation (NCIT) Colloquium, set to take place November 12-14. This first-of-its-kind event will bring together leaders, researchers, and stakeholders from across the infrastructure field to explore NCIT’s groundbreaking research and programs.

PVAMU leads NCIT, marking the first Historically Black College/University to do so. This national-tier University Transportation Center, launched last year, focuses on improving the durability and extending the life of transportation infrastructure through innovation, research, and education.

The colloquium features a distinguished lineup of speakers, including U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, U.S. Department of Transportation Office of Research Development & Technology Senior Advisor for Special Programs and Projects Thomas Saad, Infrastructure Engineering Incorporated and Affiliates Senior Vice President Paul C. Ajegba, USDOT Office of Public Engagement Senior Public Engagement Specialist Dawn C. Tucker, Texas Department of Transportation Executive Director Marc Williams and Texas Department of Transportation Strategy and Innovation Director Darran Anderson.

This three-day event offers a range of engagement opportunities, including a Day 2 session showcasing undergraduate student research, and Day 3 focuses on education and workforce development in infrastructure fields. Students working on NCIT research are strongly encouraged to present their work, giving them the opportunity to connect with industry professionals and other stakeholders.

“One of NCIT’s greatest strengths is the diversity and expertise within our network. Each partnering institution brings unique abilities and capabilities – ranging from pioneering research to implementing real-world applications that will increase the life span and resiliency of transportation infrastructure assets – all united by a commitment to building a smarter, safer, and more sustainable surface transportation system for the future. This colloquium will not only celebrate our achievements but also allow us to engage in meaningful conversations that will shape our path forward,” said Dr. Judy A. Perkins, director of NCIT.

Faculty, staff, students, NCIT advisory board members and other interested parties are all invited to join the event to engage with the latest advancements and collaborate in shaping the future of infrastructure.
