Province announces infrastructure funding for Poplar Bluff Industrial Park

Must read

The Government of Manitoba has announced more funding for infrastructure upgrades on the west side of Portage la Prairie in the area around Poplar Bluff Industrial Park.

The province announced on July 10 that it has pledged $3 million to go toward upgrades to Road 41 West.

Reeve for the RM of Portage la Prairie, Kam Blight says the investment from the province is a great help.

“The RM of Portage la Prairie is very appreciative of the Province of Manitoba providing funding to us to upgrade the infrastructure west of Portage la Prairie to help support our economic development and growth in that area. Once again, we’re very appreciative and thankful to the Province of Manitoba for supporting us with this great investment.”

Blight adds that the RM has known about the announcement for a while but was required to keep secret.

“This is something that was shared with us a little while ago, but due to the byelection that took place, there was a blackout in effect. So, we’ve had to keep it under wraps until this point, so we’re very excited for this announcement to come forward. We look forward to improving the infrastructure in our Poplar Bluff Industrial Park area to help further foster economic growth in our municipality.”

Blight notes that this infrastructure upgrade is a benefit to those already with businesses in the area, but also for anyone who might have their eyes on some land at Poplar Bluff.
