Homecoming night provided sparks for the Havre High football team as they dominated the Lockwood Lions on Friday night, (34-14). Junior quarterback Griffin Terry accounted for five touchdowns (four passing and one rushing). Senior wide receiver Tre Gary snagged two of those touchdown grabs in the first half, one from 37 yards out and the other from 12 yards, which came on a fourth down.
Junior wideout Aiden Moomey caught the game’s first touchdown pass, a 32-yarder with 7:49 to go in the first quarter. The Lions ensuing drive drove them down the field, but on third down and goal from the three-yard line, they were called for holding and an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, backing them up to not convert and then missing a field goal.
Pony sophomore tailback Urijah Davis ended up fumbling a run into the back of the end zone to give Lockwood the ball back, but the Lions played hot potato as Gary recorded his first interception of the season.
Senior captain, homecoming king, and wide receiver Colter Solomon was the beneficiary of a 61-yard touchdown reception, which came after Terry ran it in from 31 yards out in the third quarter. Havre only punted once in the entire game.
The Blue Ponies improved to (3-2) on the season and will be on the road to face East Helena next Friday night.
