PlayStation down: Global outage hits PSN, here’s what Sony said – Technology News

Sony’s PlayStation Network (PSN) faces severe connectivity issues. Gamers faced login issues as they were not able to log into their accounts. The company later on accepted that there has been a global outage. Here’s a look at what went wrong.

According to Sony’s official website, global gamers were unable to log in into their existing accounts. In addition to that, new gamers were not able to create new accounts.

Sony faces technical issues

On October 1, Sony faces a global outage, says PS5, PSVita, PS4 and PS3 users. So, what happened? As gamers using the PlayStation mentioned above tried to log in, they failed to do so. Also new gamers trying to get their hands on the PlayStation couldn’t sign in. In response to this,  “You might have difficulty launching games, apps, or network features. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.” Sony wrote this message on the PSN status support page. The company further thanked the audience  for their patience in a thanking note.

According to Downdetector, the outage faced by Sony’s PlayStation network started around 6 am. Players reported they were not able to play single-player and multiplayer games. This especially happened for online games. Apparently offline games did not face any issue.

However, apart from the support page message, the company is yet to announce more updates about the glitch.

Other updates

In other news  this year a few days back on September 11, Sony launched its PlayStation 5 Pro console. This gadget was much looked forward to as it was expected to be a much powerful version of the PS5. The console was introduced by a livestream presentation by Mark Cerny, the lead architect behind the PS5. The PS5 Pro includes a larger GPU, advanced ray tracing, AI-powered upgrades and much more. In addition to this the graphics memory has been increased by 28 percent. Cerny further explained that the PS5 is aimed at reducing footprint without reducing the performance. The PlayStation 5 Pro is priced at USD 699.99 (roughly Rs 58,800).
