Pixel Weather rolls out Pollen count and ‘Immersive’ vibrations

Must read

As announced with the October 2024 Feature Drop, Pixel Weather now has a Pollen count card, as well as Immersive weather vibrations.

On the Pixel 8 and newer, Pixel Weather offers Immersive weather vibrations that accompany the animated city backgrounds, which are generated by AI. The haptic feedback “matches the density of the rain” and other precipitation.

This is enabled by default, and can be turned off from the new item in the account menu. Additionally, your phone will “automatically disable any haptics in potentially dangerous weather conditions.” Pixel Weather also won’t vibrate (or show animations) when Battery Saver mode is active.

Meanwhile, Google has also widely rolled out the Pollen count block. This card appears at the bottom of the feed (drag to rearrange) for Grass, Tree, and Weed with a 3-5 day forecast available upon tap. More stats appear below that.

Pollen is currently only available in France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom, but “can be viewed from any country.” The company previously said it plans to expand availability.

While the Weather app became widely available to download via Google Play at the end of October for the Pixel 6+, these two features have slowly rolled out via a server-side update in recent days.
