Pixel 9 updates seem to have addressed frustrating Bluetooth issues

Must read

Pixel phones have been notorious for random Bluetooth quirks and issues over the years, but the Pixel 9 series debuted with some bigger, more frustrating problems. Through recent updates, Google seems to have addressed these qualms.

If you’ve purchased a Pixel 9 in the past couple of months, you might have run into some weird issues with Bluetooth. While earbuds, Android Auto, and other core functions seem to work fine, some devices don’t work properly. We’ve noticed this with some devices, such as Meta Ray-Bans, while APKMirror owner Artem Russakovskii noticed issues with some Find My Device trackers and his Tesla’s auto-unlock.

Speaking to contacts within Google, Russakovskii confirmed there was some odd behavior going on, and that Google was rolling out fixes through Google Play Services. The first of those fixes landed in September, while the second has arrived in the past week or so. We’ve noticed immediately better performance with our affected Ray-Bans, which previously couldn’t pair reliably to a Pixel 9 series device, but now work as expected.

As mentioned, some types of devices were not affected by this issue, but when the issue struck, it was incredibly frustrating.

If you’ve been running into Bluetooth issues on Pixel 9, let us know in the comments below if things have been working better lately.
