LITITZ, PA – Timofey Freint, a 30-year-old man from Lititz, was sentenced to 5 ¾ to 12 years in prison on Tuesday for his role in causing severe injuries, including a broken femur, to a 3-year-old child. The sentencing followed Freint’s guilty plea in March to aggravated assault and multiple other charges related to child endangerment.

The abuse came to light after the child was treated at Hershey Medical Center in June 2022, where doctors identified injuries consistent with excessive and repeated physical abuse. The investigation began when Pennsylvania State Police responded to the hospital on reports of suspected child abuse.

Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Ponessa, highlighting the severity of the abuse, presented photos showing extensive bruising and injuries across the child’s body. She argued for a minimum sentence of 6 ½ years, noting the life-threatening nature of the injuries. The defense requested a five-year minimum, attributing only the femur fracture directly to Freint.

Lancaster County Judge Merrill Spahn, addressing Freint, emphasized the irreversible harm caused to the child.

Freint had been living with the child’s mother for two months before the incident occurred while the mother briefly left to buy diapers.
