One 97 Communications (OCL), which runs fintech firm Paytm, has forged partnerships with global travel aggregators Skyscanner, Google Flights, and Wego to grow its market share in the online travel segment.

The latest tie-ups follow a 19% year-on-year (y-o-y) rise in total flight bookings on Paytm in the March quarter, the company said in a statement on Monday. International flight bookings on the platform rose 15% y-o-y in April.

“Our partnerships with global travel aggregators and leading airlines, combined with the integration of artificial intelligence, underscore our dedication to providing seamless, convenient, and competitive travel solutions. As we continue to innovate and grow, we aim to deliver exceptional value and a superior travel experience to our customers,” said a spokesperson for Paytm.

The latest alliances also track Paytm teaming up with Samsung to offer flight, bus, movie, and event ticket bookings through Samsung Wallet. Through these efforts, the company is looking to diversify its revenue streams following the Reserve Bank of India’s action against Paytm Payments Bank Ltd, barring the payments bank from accepting new deposits and providing banking services after March 15.

Paytm has been taking steps to further expand its business. It integrated its new distribution capability (NDC) with global travel technology firm Amadeus in 2023. The initiative initially included Singapore Airlines and Qatar Airways on the NDCx platform, and expanded with the recent onboarding of Eva Airways. It offers AI-powered features, enhancing the booking experience by providing more personalised travel options and packages directly from the airlines.

Additionally, Paytm Travel has added three international carriers Cambodia Angkor Air, SalamAir, and FlyDubai. It has also expanded its domestic services by partnering with new bus operators including Mettur, with the aim to reach customers in smaller cities and towns. The company has also introduced a free cancellation service across its travel categories, including trains, buses, and flights.
