Hyderabad: Telugu actor-turned-politician and Andhra Pradesh deputy chief minister, Pawan Kalyan, has emerged as the second most searched actor globally in 2024, after Micah ‘Katt’ Williams, an American stand-up comedian and actor, according to Google Search Trends.
Pawan’s fiery campaigning during AP elections and his appointment as deputy CM in May led to a surge in searches, particularly in India, Nepal, Kuwait, the UAE and Qatar.

Pawan’s political journey captivated audiences, making his ministry the most searched topic under his name, Google Trends said. Popular queries included ‘Pawan Kalyan portfolio’, ‘Pawan Kalyan ministry in AP’, ‘Pithapuram’ and ‘Pawan Kalyan election results’. His famous catchphrase, “seize the ship,” used during a recent visit to Kakinada port when addressing a suspected case of public distribution system rice being exported illegally also trended widely.
In India, most searches for Pawan came from AP and Telangana, with significant interest in Jana Sena and Kapu-dominant districts like East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna delta and the temple town of Bhadrachalam. His film ventures also contributed with spikes in searches coinciding with the teaser release of his latest film ‘Hari Hara Veera Mallu‘.
The Jana Sena Party president is the only person from both Telugu states to feature in national and global search lists for people and actors. In the ‘people’ category in India, he was ranked fifth, after Vinesh Phogat, Nitish Kumar, Chirag Paswan and Hardik Pandya. Interestingly, Nitish’s search volume included both the Bihar CM and cricketer Nitish Kumar Reddy.
In the ‘global actor’ category, Pawan and actresses Hina Khan and Nimrat Kaur were widely searched. Hina Khan’s searches spiked due to news related to her breast cancer, while Nimrat maintained steady global interest.
In the ‘sports’ category, cricketers Hardik and Shashank Singh were ranked among the top global searches. Musician Sai Abhayankar’s Tamil hit ‘Katcha Sera’ became the only Indian song to feature in the global top 10. Among TV shows, ‘Heeramandi’ secured a spot in the top five globally searched shows.
