A man was arrested and accused of trying to open the door of a taxiing JetBlue flight at Boston Logan International Airport.
The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on a flight to San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The passenger, who has not been publicly identified, opened the emergency exit door and deployed the slide, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement.
JetBlue said the man remained on the flight and the Massachusetts State Police were called to assist. The flight was delayed, a spokesperson for the airline company said.
Fred Wynn, a passenger, said the incident happened after an apparent argument between the man and his girlfriend, NBC Boston reported.
“Two people directly behind me, they were arguing, boyfriend and girlfriend,” Wynn said in a video he recorded on the flight. “I guess the boyfriend wanted to see the girlfriend’s phone, and she wouldn’t let him see.”
Wynn said the man “got up, ran down the center aisle, grabbed the emergency door.”
The man who was arrested was expected to be arraigned Wednesday in East Boston District Court.
