Three teenage boys have been arrested after allegedly pointing fake handguns at shoppers, including a mother and her baby, inside a busy shopping centre.
Police allege the teens, aged 13, 14 and 16, stole the imitation guns from a store inside the Somerville Central Shopping Centre on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula at about 10.40am on Thursday.
A teen was seen pointing a gun at a woman and her baby as they left a department store in a chilling photo from the alleged rampage.
Another showed two of the alleged offenders cuffed and sitting on the pavement outside the shopping centre after police swiftly arrested the trio.
The teenagers remain in police custody where they will be interviewed by officers.
‘Mornington Peninsula Crime Investigation Unit detectives will continue to make enquiries into the incident and are appealing for any eyewitnesses to come forward,’ a Victoria Police spokesman said.
