One half of the 207th edition between the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears is in the books. Quarterback Jordan Love marched Green Bay right down the field for an opening-drive touchdown, but Chicago hung tough and took a lead late. The Bears marched into the locker room with a 10-7 lead into the locker room at halftime.Â
Love’s opening drive scoring strike, a 15-yarder to wide receiver Jayden Reed, came about in an Aaron Rodgers-like manner. Love noticed Chicago substituting, so he quick-snapped the football, which drew multiple Bears penalties: infractions for too many men on the field and offsides. Chicago countered that score with a 53-yard field goal on its opening drive, but after that, the action from Solider Field was a defensive struggle.Â
Green Bay did face a 3rd-and-11 just 15 yards from the end zone to go up two scores, but Love overthrew tight end Tucker Kraft. That led to Bears defensive back Terrell Smith hauling in a diving interception at the 1. Love finished the half with 99 yards passing, one passing touchdown and an interception on 8 of 12 passing.Â
Bears quarterback Caleb Williams set a new career high in rushing yards with 60 on six carries in the first half to go along with 85 passing yards on 9 of 12 passing. Chicago’s short-yardage bruiser Roschon Johnson plunged into the end zone for the go-ahead touchdown from 1 yard out with seven seconds remaining on the ensuing drive following Love’s interception.Â
Can the Packers come back for an 11th consecutive win against the Bears, or will Chicago finally break through for its first win against Matt LaFleur’s Packers? Stay tuned to the live blog below to find out.
