U.S. News & World Report recently included Overlake Medical Center & Clinics on its 2024-2025 Best Hospitals list.
The health care network also earned a “High Performing” rating, which is one of the highest distinctions a hospital can earn from the publication. The rating was given in the categories of colon cancer surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, heart attack, heart failure, hip replacement, kidney failure, knee replacement, pneumonia, and stroke.
Hospitals given the “High Performing” designation were judged on criteria such as clinical outcomes, level of nursing care, and patient experience.
The media outlet also named Overlake as a “Best Regional Hospital.” It ranked eighth-best out of all hospitals in Washington and the sixth-best in the Seattle area.
“It’s an honor for Overlake to once again receive this distinguished award from U.S. News & World Report,” Overlake President and CEO J. Michael Marsh said in a release. “Being named a best hospital and receiving high-performance recognition for our many clinical specialties and procedures reflect an enduring commitment of our skilled Overlake physicians and teams, who each day deliver exceptional, innovative, and compassionate care to our community.”
As part of the overall selection process for the accolades, U.S. News & World Report analyzed almost 5,000 hospitals across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions, the release noted.
“For 35 years, U.S. News has been a leading resource for patients navigating their health care decisions,” said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News & World Report, in the release. “The ‘High Performing’ designation acknowledges hospitals that consistently deliver high-quality care for specific medical procedures and conditions. This recognition highlights their expertise and commitment to patient well-being.”
