OPPO is collaborating with industry giants like Google, MediaTek, and Microsoft to democratize AI. In a recent panel discussion, the smartphone manufacturer bared that it’s already working with partners to bring AI experiences across all its product lines in the future. This means the Find series, Reno series, F series, and even the budget-friendly A series will hopefully all get generative AI and other AI-powered capabilities.
The OPPO Reno12 series and next-generation Find X flagship, for instance, will feature the Google Gemini family LLMs. This will allow users to access innovative and convenient AI features like AI Toolbox, AI Writer, AI Recording Summary, and more.
Moreover, OPPO and MediaTek are working hand-in-hand to ensure better chip storage and computational efficiency for future flagship devices. Lastly, through its partnership with Microsoft, future OPPO phones will be equipped with Microsoft capabilities. This includes voice and text conversion, among other advanced features.
The company was joined by experts from Google, Microsoft, and IDC in the panel discussion.
Democratizing AI
In recent years, companies have been enhancing their smartphone offerings with AI upgrades. However, AI-boosted phones are usually reserved for the premium or flagship killer segments. It’s understandable since the AI era of phones is still in its earlier stages.
But IDC’s latest research report states that shipments for AI phones in the sub-US$ 1,000 segment are expected to grow by 250% this year. Generative AI, in particular, will become increasingly a part of everyday life through phones. That’s especially if it becomes available on more affordable devices. And that’s exactly what OPPO is trying to achieve soon.
Empowering users with AI phone experiences
OPPO will look to bring AI-powered features with a combination of LLMs and other technologies. These features will allow users to process more information, utilize cross-device collaboration, and become more productive. Presently, OPPO’s higher segment products already have an AI Eraser feature. With multimodal generation and motion generation technologies, users will be able to work on personalization and creation-related tasks even more efficiently. Looking forward, OPPO will work on an intelligent OS embedded with AI Agents to transform “smartphones” into “AI phones.”
