DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A new report shows Ohio is dominating the country for the second year in two important categories.

“Site Selection” magazine lists Ohio as the top state for the ‘Global Groundwork Index’ for 2024. According to the outlet, Columbus and Cincinnati are ranked in the top five metropolitan areas across the nation.

JobsOhio reports the Index was determined on the basis of an examination of capital expenditures, job creation and strategic infrastructure development from 2020 to July 2024.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine said the state is still broadening out to increase opportunities in a variety of career fields.

“We’re preparing large-scale sites for industrial development, expanding our skilled workforce, and fortifying our energy, telecom, transportation, and water infrastructure so that Ohio is always at the top of the list for businesses looking to start up or expand,” said DeWine.

In 2024 alone, a CNBC report listed Ohio as the seventh-ranked state for business on July 11.
