This week Amazon hosts one of its biggest sales of the year. It is the return of Prime Big Deal Days, or as some call it October Prime Day. Or, PBDD, if you like to shorten it.
Prime Big Deal Days is Amazon’s mini-Prime event for October, to get you ready for holiday shopping a month before Black Friday and Cyber Monday. There is nothing mini about this sales event though, these deals are just as good as we see in July.
PBDD has surprisingly low prices and excellent deals on Amazon, with huge markdowns on top brands like Apple, Dyson, and Ninja.

What we’re buying on Prime Big Deal Days
Our Shopping & Deals team spends a great chunk of our time scouring Amazon to find all of the best deals. We’ve all squirreled away products we’ve been waiting until Prime Big Deal Days to buy, in hopes they’ll reach all-time low prices.
We’ve got a decade of experience with shopping online and watching Prime Day sales, so these are our predictions for products we expect to see on sale this week. Each member of the team has narrowed down two of our top coveted items we’re hoping to snag at a discounted rate this week.
HP DeskJet 2855e Wireless All-in-One Color Inkjet Printer

I’m Ana, the manager of the Content Innovation & Digital Growth team and a millennial without a printer. It is 2024, and I thought there was really no reason to ever need a printer and ditched mine years ago. But time and time again, I’ve needed a printer. Rather than going to my parent’s house on the weekend to print something out on their printer, which my dad never knows how to turn on, I’ve decided to finally get a printer. But I don’t want to spend too much, I don’t expect to use this weekly, let alone daily.
I knew I wanted something that comes with ink and has high ratings. This HP DeskJet Wireless Printer is already budget-friendly at the retail price of $85, but I expect it’ll be at least $30 off, it has over 51,000 ratings and it comes with three months’ worth of ink. I’m not using this for work, but instead for the random Amazon label and letter I need to print out, and I expect the free ink will last quite a while.
CUSHIONAIRE Women’s Hana Cork Footbed Clog

I love Birkenstocks, but I will not pay over $150 for a clog. I won’t even pay $50 for a clog! Cushionare is a great brand on Amazon that has popular styles for much, much less, and these cork bed sandals are exactly like Birkenstocks, at a fraction of the cost. I am hoping to snag them for around $35 on PBDD so I can wear these all fall long with some warm, soft socks.
BLACK+DECKER dustbuster PIVOT VAC Cordless Handheld Vacuum

I’m Danielle, one of our team’s commerce writers and a dustbuster diehard, since childhood. We bought our first “little blue vacuum,” as my kids call it, on Amazon Prime Day over five years ago — and it has been through cereal crumbs, broken glass, puppy hair, and back for us over the last half-decade. But I think we need something newer, fresher, and cleaner, so I’d like to upgrade to the BLACK+DECKER dustbuster PIVOT VAC Cordless Handheld Vacuum. This one has more flexibility and nimbleness to scoop up dust, debris, food crumbs, and more from harder-to-reach places, gross kids’ car seats, among them. It’s also said to have great suction, which is priority #1 for me because even our full-size vacuum is starting to lose some pick-up strength in its old age.
According to the reviews (nearly 30,000, by the way), customers have said that this 15-ounce workhorse “lasts longer than (their) Dyson.” And that’s what has always worried me about investing in an expensive Dyson — both my sister’s and my dad’s handheld stick vacs seemingly charge for hours and then only work for 10 minutes when they’re in my hands. It might just be bad luck for me, but I’d much rather spend under $100 and get great results in longer cleaning sessions. This top-rated dustbuster is currently on sale for $66, down from $90, ahead of October Prime Day. I’d gladly purchase it at this low price, but if there’s even a chance that it’ll drop to $50 during PBDD, I’ll wait for it!
Amazon Kindle Paperwhite

As a mom of three kids who are 7 years old and younger, “me time” is a luxury that is way too hard to come by, what with school schedules and so many extracurriculars on the calendar. But I’m in the midst of starting up a book club for the moms I’ve gotten friendly with in my neighborhood and through my kids’ respective PTA groups, and I want to go into it with the “right hardware.”
I’ve only ever borrowed my husband’s Kindle in the past or bought books from Barnes & Noble — full transparency, it’s my favorite place to shop, I have loved the hardcover book smell that fills the store ever since the summer reading days of my youth. But as a 30-something millennial, I have also always wanted my own Kindle. I think I’m fully ready to commit this Prime Day, but at $150 regular retail, I still have some reservations about the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite. I’d love to see the price come down by $30, but if it drops to $100, I will buy it in a heartbeat!

As an avid user of the Ring Video Doorbell, I’m ready for an outdoor upgrade with some Blink camera additions. Because of the sense of security and convenience that the Ring has given me, I’m convinced a few Blink Security Cameras will make me feel even more at ease.

The second item I’m looking to grab at a discount on Amazon is a pair of Hey Dude Wendy Comf Loafers. These suede kicks just dropped and I haven’t seen a discount on them on Amazon yet.
With a hefty $85 price tag, any discount on these new Hey Dude sneaker arrivals will be appreciated and prompt me to snag them fast. I’m anticipating a 10-15% price drop (fingers crossed) and if they go any lower, I’m going to have to contemplate buying a pair in two colors.

Show me a cat video game, and my whole day is dedicated to finishing this cat game.
