Key points:
- Nvidia’s first large-scale launch in Middle East
- Ooredoo becomes Nvidia Cloud Partner
Nvidia has entered into an agreement to implement its artificial intelligence technology at data centres owned by Qatari telecoms group Ooredoo in five Middle Eastern countries. This deal marks Nvidia’s first large-scale launch in the region. The U.S. has restricted the export of its most advanced chips to prevent Chinese firms from accessing the latest AI technology via Middle Eastern countries. However, some Nvidia technology is still permitted for export to the Middle East.
Ooredoo is becoming a Nvidia Cloud Partner as part of the deal, aligning with its strategy to become the leading digital infrastructure provider in the Middle East and North Africa. The telecom company will utilize Nvidia’s advanced accelerated computing platform to facilitate the AI revolution in the region. This platform will be accessible to governments, enterprises, and startups in Qatar, Algeria, Tunisia, Oman, Kuwait, and the Maldives, providing them with Nvidia’s latest full-stack AI platform.
