Nozomi Networks & Mandiant expand critical infrastructure defence

Must read

In a significant move aimed at bolstering the defences of critical infrastructure worldwide, Nozomi Networks and Mandiant, part of Google Cloud, have announced an expansion of their strategic partnership. The collaboration between the leaders in OT and IoT security, and dynamic cyber defence respectively, promises to deliver enhanced threat detection and response capabilities to customers globally.

The partnership, which has been in place for nearly a decade, will now see each organisation offering the other’s threat intelligence services. This integration will significantly improve network visibility and enable better defence mechanisms for customer networks. Moreover, Mandiant’s OT incident response teams will expand their use of Nozomi Networks sensors in their investigations, providing comprehensive insights and enhancing the efficacy of their security strategies. Simultaneously, Nozomi Networks customers will have streamlined access to Mandiant’s world-class incident response services via Mandiant Assist.

Edgard Capdevielle, CEO of Nozomi Networks, highlighted the pressing need for comprehensive solutions amidst a rapidly evolving cybersecurity landscape. “The cybersecurity threat landscape is rapidly evolving, with attacks growing in both number and impact enterprise-wide,” said Capdevielle. “To minimise risk and maximise operational resilience, CISOs and their security teams need comprehensive solutions that enable them to quickly assess and respond to threats across their IT, OT and IoT systems. We are pleased to be able to give our customers the option to easily incorporate Mandiant’s world-class threat intelligence and threat hunting services as part of a whole solution that delivers superior security outcomes.”

Melissa Smith, Google Cloud’s Head of Strategy & Technology Partnerships, echoed this sentiment, stressing the importance of combining threat intelligence sources for enhanced security outcomes. “For almost a decade, Mandiant and Nozomi Networks have partnered to deliver advanced, AI-powered OT and IoT security solutions to customers,” said Smith. “This latest expansion is another critical step in our journey to combine threat intelligence sources and defences for the best possible security outcomes for the world’s critical infrastructure. By blending Mandiant’s threat intelligence and expertise with Nozomi Networks’ OT threat intelligence and tools, we can enable critical infrastructure organisations to enhance their threat intelligence and investigations for a stronger defence.”

The expanded partnership is particularly significant given that many cyber-attacks targeting critical infrastructure often originate from IT entry points. The combined capability to monitor and respond to threats across IT, OT, and IoT environments provides invaluable security support for CISOs overseeing the protection of vital operations.

Nozomi Networks and Google Security Operations customers who seek real-time, comprehensive threat intelligence across their IT, OT, and IoT systems can now leverage the enhanced capabilities resulting from this collaboration. This unified approach not only broadens the scope of threat detection but also ensures a more robust, holistic response to emerging threats.

By the end of the year, Nozomi Networks customers will gain push-button access to Mandiant’s incident response services through the Nozomi Networks platform. Furthermore, Mandiant will incorporate Nozomi Networks sensors into their own systems, enabling a deeper dive into detecting malicious activity and identifying compromises, particularly within the IT systems supporting OT, IIoT, and IoT operations.
