LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Norton Children’s has been named in the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals 2024-2025 rankings.

The children’s hospital is being recognized nationally in seven specialties. This is in addition to having been named the No. 1 children’s hospital in Kentucky, according to a release.

“We’re honored to be the No. 1 children’s hospital in Kentucky and home to some of the nation’s best specialties in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings,” said Russell F. Cox, president and CEO, Norton Healthcare. “This recognition starts and ends with having an amazing team focusing on a single mission: providing the best care for our patients, families and the community.”

The Best Children’s Hospitals list included national rankings for seven Norton Children’s specialties: behavioral health, cancer, diabetes/endocrinology, neurology/neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology and urology.

Norton Children’s highest-ranked specialty at 14th nationally is Diabetes/endocrinology. Care is offered through Wendy Novak Diabetes Institute, which is a part of Norton Children’s.

“To be ranked is a tremendous honor and validates the dedication of our amazing Norton Children’s team,” said Diane Scardino, chief administrative officer, Norton Children’s Hospital. “Their hard work and unwavering commitment to serving patients across Kentucky, Indiana and the region led to these results.”

Data had been collected and analyzed from 108 children’s hospitals and thousands of pediatric specialists were surveyed. The children’s hospitals awarded designations excelled at factors including clinical outcomes, level and quality of hospital resources directly related to patient care, and expert opinion among pediatric specialists, according to the release.

The release further states the goal of these rankings is to help parents and caregivers, along with their physicians, in navigating the challenges when it comes to choosing the best possible care for children with serious illnesses or complex medical needs.

“This team is dedicated to ensuring kids and families receive great care close to home,” said Susan Strack, system vice president, pediatric services, Norton Children’s. “Our mission is to continue to grow so we can impact and improve lives far into the future. These rankings show we’re making progress toward that goal.”
