GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KUMV) – The organization building a drone network across North Dakota is expanding its efforts to Tennessee.
Officials at the Northern Plains UAS Test Site near Grand Forks said they entered into a partnership with the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) to develop their own system.
The test site is responsible for the VANTIS system, which provides unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) with an opportunity to fly beyond the pilot’s visual line of sight (BVLOS). Its primary testing locations are in Grand Forks and northwest North Dakota.
Northern Plains Executive Director Trevor Woods said they will be working with TDOT to enhance UAS programs over the next five years.
“This collaboration represents a significant step forward in creating a more interconnected and sustainable UAS ecosystem in the United States. By working together across state lines, we can achieve greater collaboration and support the development of robust infrastructure,” said Woods.
