Byer is scheduled to perform at the National Comedy Center’s Lucille Ball Comedy Festival today. This performance marks the first time the Middletown Township, N.J., native and current Los Angeles resident will be performing in Western New York.
Beyond being a comedian, Byer is also an actress, voice over artist, voice over actor, author, TV game show host, TV presenter, PodCast host and holds many other titles within the entertainment industry.
“I’ve never been to Jamestown,” said Byer. “I loved watching Lucy as a child, so this is a really cool event and I’m looking forward to seeing the town and checking out the Comedy Festival.”
Byers has a long list of credits to her record including, according to imdb.com, hosting the bake-off competition show, Nailed It!, for which she has received four Primetime Emmy Award nominations; co-hosting the obstacle course game show Wipeout with World Wrestling Entertainment superstar John Cena; the scripted comedy drama on MTV, Loosely Exactly Nicole; appearing on the game show Celebrity Family Feud episode entitled “”Funny Gals vs Funny Guys and Louie Anderson vs. Christina Milian”; an episode of Lego Masters; the Netflix comedy-drama television series, Survival of the Thickest and more.
Byer spoke about one of her all-time favorite actors she’s worked with who doubles as a professional wrestler in addition to being an actor.
“I really loved working with John Cena, “ she said. “He is the student of the world. If there was a joke that wasn’t working, he’d be like ‘Hey, Nicole. … how do I make this work, and I’d be like. … maybe if you say it like this. We just really meshed well together.”
Another sub-category is Byer’s voice acting and voice over artistry work. This specific type of work has pushed her to perform outside her normal ranges of characters. Voice acting is different from performance acting, Byer said. Voice acting requires you to play out of your age range. She reported that she’s played a lot of child-like characters and provided a lot of voices for animated boys in cartoons, video games and other forms of medium entertainment venues.
Some of Byer’s voice acting credits include voice work on the animated cartoon series The Simpsons; Betty Rubble on the 2D animated series Bedrock; Rugrats – as Lucy Carmichel and Silver Beagle; and as Jancie in the 2023 animated movie Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken.
Additionally, Byer has used her platforms as an entertainer to champion some causes near and dear to her heart.
“Body positivity, to me, means you accept the body that you’re in. And if you want to change it, you can, but you should love the skin that you’re in currently, forever,” she said in an interview with Brit Plus Co. “Because everyone is beautiful. No one’s truly ugly. You’re always beautiful to somebody, and you’re always ugly to somebody.”
However, during Byers upcoming performance in Jamestown – she is hoping to bring some light-hearted laughter and joy for event attendees.
“I hope people will laugh, ‘teehee-hee’ and forget their troubles,” she said. “And for an hour, or hour and a half, do not think about the s- – – going on in their lives, and just have a nice time.”
