Operation Marshall supply drive for hurricane relief
Members of the Carsonville Fire Department will be traveling to Marshall, N.C. to deliver fire equipment and supplies to the Marshall Volunteer Fire Department that was destroyed by Hurricane Helene flood waters.
According to the news release, the fire department saved their vehicles, but lost all of their other equipment and gear, and the community was utterly devastated.
In addition to bringing firefighting gear, Operation Marshall is collecting supplies at NAPA in Park Rapids, Byers Market in Osage and Will’s Quality Bait and Tackle in Detroit Lakes.
Items needed are bottled water, hygiene products, first aid products, baby formula, diapers, pacifiers, canned food (with pull tab tops), paper products, toilet paper, dried food, pet food, new socks and underwear, generators, propane, extension cords, crayons or markers, coloring books, children’s books, Halloween treats or goodie bags for kids and comfort items such as blankets and stuffed animals.
Supplies will be collected through Friday, Oct. 25.
Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
