James City residents may want to be on the lookout come Monday July 1 for some redirection to a temporary service road.
According to the NCDOT a portion of a new service road will be opened off Williams Road for the Trent East Shopping Center where Food Lion, Family Dollar, ABC Store, and others are located. The temporary entrance into the shopping center from Williams Road will be closed, rerouting traffic to the new service road. This link shows the location of the new service road entrance into the shopping center: https://publicinput.com/Customer/File/Full/229f79c7-8384-441a-b1c4-cdb1d489f5e8.
The existing truck entrance behind the shopping center and access to all business and restaurants will still remain open. This rerouting of traffic is the second of three phases to construct the new service road, with ongoing construction in the area between Taco Bell and Bojangles. Temporary construction signs will be used to alert motorists to the new traffic pattern. The NCDOT would like all to please pay close attention to posted signs for directions and be cautious while driving through this active construction zone.
