Escambia County’s building affordable houses, but not selling them, a new shopping and event center planned for Pensacola, and Sky’s Pizza expands
The OYO Hotel’s site on Pensacola Boulevard could be expanding with an event center and multi-tenant shopping center nearby.
Plans for who could set up shop in the proposed shopping center are not available at this time, but the project’s narrative form states that the event center will service the existing 121-room hotel.
Developers plan for the multi-tenant building to be 5,000 square feet with four rentable spaces for retail stores. The event center is proposed to be 4,000 square feet and located directly outside of the hotel. An additional 53 parking spaces are also proposed as part of the project.

The multi-tenant building is planned for construction on a plot of land that’s parallel to an existing restaurant, Founaris Bros, and is closer to Pensacola Boulevard.
No new access roads are proposed as part of this project, however they have proposed removing one.
According to the project’s narrative form, the development requires the removal of the existing southeast driveway of the property, but the northeast driveway will remain. Those existing roads provide vehicular access to Pensacola Boulevard.
Out of 4.39 acres, developers expect 1.23 acres to be disturbed by the project.
OYO’s proposal and plans were filed with Escambia County on Aug. 16 and have not been approved by the Development Review Committee at this time.
