The New Orleans Women & Children’s Shelter has added two new board members.
Ari Ferrand-Goodwin is the director of organizational development for the Port of New Orleans & New Orleans Public Belt Railroad.
Virginia “Ginger” Spencer is lead operations engineer with Mars, Shell Exploration and Production Co. She has more than 10 years of experience working as a deepwater completion engineer in the Gulf of Mexico.
Not only is the shelter the largest for homeless women in children in metro New Orleans, it is also the only homeless shelter for intact families (including fathers).

The Jefferson Business Council has named its officers for 2025.
Mark Rosa, CEO of Jefferson Financial Federal Credit Union, will serve as chair. Greg LaCour, a partner with Blue Williams, is chair-elect. Lori Ward, president and CEO of Marrero Land & Improvement, is first vice chair. Fred Preis, senior partner with Breazeale, Sachse and Wilson, is past chair. Ryan Daul, vice president of USI Insurance, is treasurer. Duaine Duffy, principal with Benefit Analyst, is secretary.
Executive committee members are: Eric Bosch, Jim Hudson, Jim Martin, Todd Matherne, Todd Murphy, Larry Katz, Lee Giorgio and Jim Garvey.
