Las Vegas (KSNV) — U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto announced the U.S. Commerce Department’s approval for Nevada to invest over $416 million to expand high-speed internet access across the state.
This funding, secured by Cortez Masto through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, marks the culmination of a years-long effort to enhance broadband connectivity for Nevadans.
“This critical funding I’ve helped deliver to connect Nevadans in all corners of our state will be a gamechanger for so many households who still lack access to high-speed internet,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “Thanks to the support provided by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, more Nevadans, both rural and urban, will be able to get online to stay in touch with loved ones, complete their education, and grow their businesses.”

The funding will be allocated through the BEAD program, an initiative aimed at closing the digital divide by expanding internet access in underserved and unserved areas.
It will support planning, infrastructure development, and adoption programs to bring high-speed internet to over 50,000 households in Nevada.
As part of her Innovation State Initiative, Cortez Masto has been at the forefront of efforts to improve broadband access and bolster Nevada’s economy.
She advocated for increased accountability in federal broadband programs, contributing to the creation of a more accurate FCC broadband map that helped secure additional funding for Nevada.
Additionally, her bipartisan ACCESS Broadband Act established an office within the Commerce Department to administer infrastructure law funding, provide technical assistance, and ensure transparency in the use of taxpayer dollars.
