Netflix, Google Team Up to Make Fashions from ‘Emily in Paris’ Shoppable – Retail TouchPoints

Must read

Netflix has teamed up with Google to make the fourth season of the hit series Emily in Paris shoppable. And for fans that want to truly live in Emily’s world, the streamer also has released a new digital game that will allow fans to live out their own Parisian adventure.

Enabled through shoppable ads — and therefore only available to subscribers of the streamers’ ad-supported tier — viewers will be able to purchase some of Emily’s enviable fashions and other products using Google’s visual search tool, Google Lens. Pause ads, which appear when viewers pause an episode, will feature images that, when scanned using Google Lens, will direct fans to similar items available for purchase. Google and Netflix also have created a series of customized commercials that tie Emily in Paris with Google Shopping.

Google is the title sponsor of Emily in Paris season four and also has sponsored the previous three seasons, marking the first time that Netflix has had title sponsorships on its existing library of shows.

To celebrate the partnership, Google and Netflix hosted a fan event at Los Angeles’ famed Egyptian Theatre, timed to the release of season four on Aug. 15, 2024. Fans were treated to a screening of the first three episodes of season four, a demo of the new Netflix Stories: Emily in Paris video game, exclusive photo opportunities and free giveaways. The event also featured an activation showcasing Emily’s most memorable costumes as well as recreations of her favorite Parisian spots like the Savoir office, Gabriel’s restaurant L’Esprit de Gigi and the Jardin du Palais Royal. Using Lens, fans were asked a series of questions about the outfits in the exhibit for a chance to win a trip to Paris.

Fans were selected to attend the event via a sweepstakes hosted on Tudum, the companion website to Netflix. Viewers can visit Tudum anytime to get details on Emily’s newest wardrobe additions as well as insights from series costume designer Marylin Fitoussi, and to shop fan gear.

For those really looking to step into the aspirational world of the series, fans also can now play Netflix Stories: Emily in Paris where they’ll make the move from the U.S. to Paris after accepting a dream job, explore the city and find themselves in the process.
