A significant Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony took place at Inya Lake Hotel, Yangon, marking a collaboration between Myanmar and Thailand’s energy engineering sectors.
The MOU was signed between Myanmar’s CAG Engineering Co Ltd., an independent power producer (IPP) and a part of the CAG Group of Companies, and several technical expert companies from Thailand’s power industry, including PEA Encom Co Ltd, I Power Co Ltd, R & J Co Ltd, Mega Prime Group, and Z Carbon.
This agreement aims to explore and develop a range of renewable and traditional power sources, such as solar, wind, hydro, and natural gas. Additionally, an initial memorandum was established to potentially collaborate on geothermal power generation in the future. This comprehensive agreement signifies a significant step towards ensuring a more secure and diverse energy future for both countries.
CAG Engineering Co Ltd is at the forefront of Myanmar’s solar energy development, leading five solar power projects with a combined capacity of 210 megawatts. The first project, with a 90 MW capacity, has already been successfully implemented in the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area. Future projects are planned across Ayeyawady, Mandalay, and Magway Regions, and southern Shan State.
