Here are some of the Quad-Cities businesses that will open soon, as well as other changes for local businesses:

Mulkey’s Restaurant returns to dine-in service

Mulkey’s Restaurant, 3800 14th Ave. in Rock Island, will be back to serving in-house starting on Valentine’s Day.

In a Facebook post on Jan. 10, the restaurant announced that it would again be open on limited days for dine-in, starting with 4 to 8 p.m. on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14. The restaurant will continue to be open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 4 to 8 p.m.

The Rock Island staple ended their dine-in services on Aug. 31. The restaurant stayed open but switched to a carryout-only menu.

“We appreciate how much support we’ve had through this hard time and how so very grateful we are,” the Mulkey family told the Quad-City Times/Dispatch-Argus.

Carryout orders are still available by calling 309-788-1441. New hours for carryout and in-house are: Monday, carryout only, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Tuesday, closed; Wednesday, carryout only, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Thursday, Friday and Saturday, carryout 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and dine-in from 4 to 8 p.m.; Sunday, carryout only, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Check their Facebook page for carryout menu. Mulkey’s also does catering on both sides of the river.

The restaurant is family-owned and is a Quad-Cities favorite for over 60 years. It is well-known for its Henny Penny Fried Chicken, catfish, hot roast beef and hot turkey.

Life Breads now home-based, closes storefront

Life Breads announced Dec. 7 on its Facebook page it was closing its storefront but not gone. Life Breads is a dedicated gluten-free, peanut- and soy-free bakery.

Life Breads has closed its storefront but will still be operating as a home-based bakery.




In a letter to customers, the business said it was closing its location at 1509 N. Harrison St. in Davenport and would instead be a home-based business in Moline.

“We intend to return to local farmers markets and will post various locations and times where you can pick up your orders to our website and social media,” the letter said. “We are planning to appear at the Bettendorf Farmers Market during the season on Monday and Thursday afternoons. More days and locations announcements are upcoming.”

Loyalty subscribers’ accounts will still be valid and will be able to accumulate and spend points that do not expire. The website QCLifebreads.com will still be operational, and orders can be submitted through through Facebook at fb.com/QCLifeBreads or by phone at 563-200-1838. A list of bakery items available is on the website and Facebook.

The Ice Cream Derby 18-hole indoor adventure golf

The Ice Cream Derby will hold a grand opening to celebrate its new 18-hole indoor adventure golf at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25. The Ice Cream Derby is located at 503 Main St. in Delmar, about 30 minutes north of Davenport.  The Derby is closed until grand-opening day for renovations. The indoor adventure golf is 6,000 square feet with two levels.

A new indoor adventure golf course is opening at the Ice Cream Derby in Delmar, with a grand opening on Jan. 25.




Operation hours will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Food is available starting at 11 a.m. The business plans to extend hours as the weather improves.

Golf is $7.50 ages 12 and up; $6.50 ages 5-11 and free for ages 4 and under.

The Ice Cream Derby is a fast-food and homemade ice cream restaurant with dine-in or in-store pickup. It also has an 18-hole outdoor course.
