According to new research from fashion experts at Boohoo, which analyzed the results of U.S. Google searches for style-related terms including “[artist] fashion” and “[artist] style” for 100 women in the music industry, Taylor Swift takes the top spot the most-searched female artist when it comes to style.
With 107,442 average monthly Google searches regarding her style, the number of search results for Taylor Swift‘s wardrobe typically spikes after one of the star’s highly-photographed public appearances, often capturing the star experimenting with color, pattern, texture or shine, is published to the internet. Most recently, the 14-time Grammy winner was heavily searched online after appearing at the 58th annual Super Bowl in an outfit costing over $50,000 from designer Dion Lee.
Right behind Swift in second place is Stevie Nicks with an average of 18,808 monthly Google searches for her outfits, most prominently from her career in the 70s and 80s. Often used as style inspiration among modern researchers, Nicks is most well-known for her hippie-inspired aesthetic that mixed vintage textiles and airy silhouettes with more masculine footwear.
Third on the list is R&B artist Aaliyah, with an average of 15,601 monthly Google searches regarding her fashion. With baggy silhouettes, bright colors and matching sets considered wardrobe staples for the singer, Aaliyah is often referred to as a symbol of 90s fashion and is often used as style inspiration for the decade.
The remainder of the study concluded that Beyoncé, with an average of 14,365 monthly Google searches, placed fourth most popular; Lady Gaga, with an average of 11,298 monthly searches, placed fifth; Melanie Martinez, with an average of 10,612 monthly searches, placed sixth; Ariana Grande, with an average of 9,558 monthly searches, placed seventh; Doja Cat, with an average of 8,494 monthly searches, placed eighth; Rihanna, with an average of 7,939 monthly searches, placed ninth; and Lana Del Rey, with an average of 7,875 monthly searches, placed tenth.
