The search for a Jamestown woman has reportedly come to an end.
Amber Harrington had been missing since January. According to Merry Williams-Diers in a Facebook post late Tuesday night, Harrington was found dead. Williams-Diers, the local woman behind WNY Missing and unidentified Persons, had organized searches for Harrington in Jamestown.
“Our continued prayers for her family and friends that are grieving the loss of such a young/beautiful life gone too soon,” Williams-Diers posted. “RIP Amber. A very special thank you to my selfless community volunteers that spent countless hours aiding in the search for Amber. Our only regret is not finding her how we all had hoped and prayed for.”
Jamestown Police Department officials were unavailable for comment Wednesday. JPD had been assisting in efforts to find Harrington, including sending out a public notice in April., but family members organized a GoFundMe Wednesday to help pay for Harrington’s funeral arrangements.
“I am raising funds to help the cost of cremation and funeral for my niece, Amber Harrington,” Kristine Edwards wrote on the GoFundMe page. “She was 23 when she disappeared, 24 when she was found. Amber was a giver, she would give the shirt off her back if it would help someone. That was her nature. Amber went missing in January, family has been looking for her and were unable to find her. Yesterday her remains were found. Today it was confirmed to us that it was Amber’s remains. Amber also has a daughter that is 4 that will never get to see her mother, we will only have pictures to share with her. Amber lost her mother, (my sister) in 2020. Since that, Amber had not been the same. Now she is back with her mother. We believe that she deserves a proper send off.”
