Microsoft users around the world are experiencing service outage across the world, according to reports. The current outage has effect many services from the tech giant, which includes Microsoft Team, Windows 365, OneDrive, and more.
Downdetector, an outage tracking platform, has registered over 900 reports of a Microsoft 365 outage impacting users globally. The majority of reports (74 percent) indicate issues with OneDrive, the cloud storage service. Server connection problems are affecting 16 percent of users, while 10 percent are struggling to access Outlook email. Users have taken to social media platforms to share their experiences, with many encountering the error message and subsequent restarts that leave their computers in a loop.
Microsoft has acknowledged the outage via its Microsoft 365 status X (formerly Twitter) handle and is currently investigating the cause. The company hasn’t provided an estimated time for resolution.
Microsoft 365 Status via X wrote that the company is “investigating an issue impacting users ability to access various Microsoft 365 apps and services”. “We’re working on rerouting the impacted traffic to alternate systems to alleviate impact in a more expedient fashion,” it said in another post. The company further added “We remain focused on redirecting the impacted traffic to healthy systems”.
The outage caused disruptions for several airlines
SpiceJet and Akasa Air in India are experiencing technical problems impacting flight bookings, check-in, and updates, according to reports. These issues appear to stem from a Microsoft cloud service outage.
The outage has caused significant disruptions for several airlines in the US too. Frontier Airlines has been forced to cancel 147 flights and delay 212 more. Sun Country and Allegiant have also reported delays, impacting 45 percent and 27 percent of their total flights, respectively.
