Here’s a look at promotions, hirings and other noteworthy business events in the Memphis area:

Memphis-based brain and spine care provider Semmes Murphey Clinic has hired two general neurologists: Dr. Caitlin Brockenshire and Dr. Neha Kumar.

  • Brockenshire diagnoses, treats and manages patients’ conditions affecting the blood vessels in the brain and spinal cord. Prior to joining Semmes Murphey, she attended medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, where she also completed her residency. She is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Heart Association.
  • Kumar diagnoses, treats and manages conditions affecting patients’ brain, spinal cord and nervous system. Prior to joining Semmes Murphey, she attended medical school at Case Western Reserve University/Cleveland Clinic Foundation and completed her residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, where she served as chief resident in her final year. Kumar then completed a fellowship in vascular neurology at Boston Medical Center.

The Orpheum Theatre Group, the nonprofit organization that operates the historic Orpheum Theatre and the Halloran Centre for Performing Arts & Education, announced the addition of three new member to its Board of Directors: Ruby Hancock – Office Managing Partner, KPMG LLP; Martin Hand – Chief Donor Officer, ALSAC – St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; and Laura Linder – President and CEO, Jewish Community Partners.

Dr. Be Stone, assistant professor of political science at Rhodes College, was presented the Stephen E. Bronner Dissertation Award, presented annually by the Critical Political Science Caucus of the American Political Science Association. The award recently was presented at APSA’s annual meeting in Philadelphia. At Rhodes, Stone teaches courses in American politics, public policy and qualitative-interpretive research methods.

Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South hired the nonprofit’s first-ever Senior Director of Corporate Partnerships & Government Relations. Phil Dotson officially joined the organization on Sept. 30. Previously, he was a partnership director of Memphis-Shelby County Schools’ division of College, Career and Technical Education, and services supervisor for the Workforce Investment Network at the City of Memphis. Dotson earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting and business management at the University of Memphis.

ALLMemphis has hired a new director of data analytics and a program assistant.

  • Madeleine Peck is the company’s new Director of Data Analytics. As a Strategic Data Project Fellow, a program of the Center for Education Policy Research at Harvard University, she’ll advance her analytical skills. A graduate of Brown University, Rhode Island College and Ohio University, Peck holds master’s degrees in education and urban education policy. Prior to joining ALLMemphis, she led the Rhode Island Department of Education’s effort to systematically support sustainable high-impact tutoring across the state.
  • Rosalyn Anderson is the Program and Administrative Assistant. She works with the senior leadership team to ensure the efficient operation of programming. Prior to joining ALLMemphis, she was an instructor in the post-secondary sector and worked in the administration field for more than five years at the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis and the University Of Tennessee Health Science Center. Anderson earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

Noteworthy

The Memphis Riverfront was honored with an American Society of Landscape Architects Professional Award and a certified SITES designation. Both add to the international recognition Tom Lee Park has received since reopening in September 2023. Tom Lee Park received an honors award in the urban design category of the ASLA Professional Awards. The SITES designation for Tom Lee Park recognized the park’s sustainability in the planning, design, construction and management of landscapes and other outdoor spaces.

Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare earned top recognition by Money magazine as one of the Best U.S. Hospitals for Cardiac Care. The healthcare system’s four Memphis adult hospitals landed 15th of 75 and is the only ranked system in western Tennessee.
