Under Armour athlete Maverick McNealy earned his first win on the PGA Tour by winning the RSM Classic in dramatic fashion with a birdie at the final hole to finish one shot ahead of the nearest competitor.
The 29-year-old American finished 2024 in style after knocking on the door all year, with six top 10s to his name, including the WM Phoenix Open, RBC Canadian Open and The Players Championship.
The tournament also saw McNealy register his 100th cut made on the PGA Tour, as well as registering the first PGA Tour victory for the UA Drive Pro franchise to round off an incredible year for UA.
Taking full advantage of the UA Drive Pro’s S3 Swing Support System, McNealy ranked 1st for Strokes Gained: Total, as well as 2nd in both Greens In Regulation and Proximity on Approach, and 4th in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green.
A former world no.1 amateur, McNealy has worked tirelessly to overcome injury problems that saw him take off the majority of the 2023 season and recover from a mid-season injury in 2024.
With this win, McNealy moves up to 31st in the Official World Golf Ranking and will also receive an invitation to the 2025 Masters tournament in April.
McNealy’s Under Armour Drive Pro footwear landed a grand slam of major titles of its own in 2024, having earned Editor’s Choice awards from leading global golf publications Mygolfspy.com, Golf Monthly, Today’s Golfer and Bunkered.
The only footwear franchise to receive Editor’s Choice awards from each of the titles, both Drive Pro Spiked and Drive Pro SL models picked up accolades.
Under Armour has continuously validated the performance benefits of the Drive Pro Series since launch as part of its mission to make athletes better by establishing golf footwear as an essential piece of golf equipment. Live data testing at the PGA Show Demo Day, and across the UK at UA’s Drive Pro Demo Day events programme, has consistently shown increases across clubhead speed, ball speed and carry distance when switching into Drive Pro footwear.
In the UK, Under Armour’s market share in golf footwear has continued to grow rapidly, with it now firmly cemented as the industry’s no.2 footwear brand in both units sold and by value.
In the on and off-course market combined, the latest Golf Datatech market share for 2024 shows that one in every five pairs of golf shoes sold in the UK this year was UA shoe, with a share of 20.85% of the units sold market.
