Marinette County Fair opens today in Wausaukee

WAUSAUKEE, Wis. — The Marinette County Fair in Wausaukee gets underway today at the fairgrounds in Wausaukee.

Entertainment is planned all four days of the fair under the free pavilion.

Jake Hoot, winner of season 17 of “The Voice,” will perform at 8 p.m. today, followed by a DJ until 11 p.m.

On Friday, Mark Peterson performs from 4 to 7 p.m., followed by the Michigan Shivers at 8 p.m.

Saturday there will be music by Beachfront Avenue from noon to 3 p.m., Ten Cases Later from 4 to 7 p.m. and 7000Apart at 8 p.m.

The LIVEwire polka band plays at 12:30 p.m. Sunday. Bingo will be from 11 to noon Sunday.

In the grandstand, the Monster Truck Show will be at 6 p.m. today. The farm tractor pull is set for 6:30 p.m. Friday. Saturday, the demolition derby is at 1 p.m. and truck pull at 7:30 p.m. The horse pull starts at 10 a.m. Sunday, with the mini-rod pull at 1 p.m.

The exhibit buildings open today at 9 a.m. and vendor buildings at 11 a.m.

Rabbit judging starts at 2 p.m.

Marinette County Fair Royalty will be crowned at 5:30 p.m. today.

Friday has a full day of judging, starting at 8 a.m. Friday with beef and swine, poultry at 10 a.m., and sheep and goat at noon. The horse show is at 9:30 a.m. The day culminates with the youth livestock auction starting at 7 p.m.

Saturday opens with dairy judging at 8:30 a.m. The junior fair horse speed show and flag presentation will be at 12:30 p.m. The annual livestock costume contest begins at 6 p.m.

Sunday will have the horse fun day from 8 a.m. to noon.

Trophies and awards will be presented in the show barn at 3 p.m. Sunday and animals will be released at 4 p.m. Exhibits are released at 5 p.m.

Wristbands for rides will be $30 per person today from 4 to 10 p.m.; $25 on Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. and $30 from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday rides open at noon and will be regular price: $1.50 per ticket or 16 for $20, with rides taking three or more tickets per person. Sunday will be $25 for a wristband from noon to 4 p.m.

The Wild World of Animals Shows, Miller & Mike and TADA Robot shows will take place several times daily during the fair.

Grandstand events are priced at $5 for ages 6 through adult on Friday, $5 for ages 6 to 12 and $8 for ages 13 through adult for Saturday events and free on Sunday. Tickets for the monster truck show are available at monstertrucktour.com.

Entry is $5 per day or $15 for a weekend pass. Advance weekend passes are $12. Admission is $2 on Sunday. Parking is $2 east of the fairgrounds.
