In his third season as Frewsburg’s head coach, Eric Haglund led the Bears to a perfect 14-0 league record and for that was named the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 Coach of the Year by his colleagues.

Maple Grove senior Kolden McCall was named the league’s Player of the Year and Pine Valley received the Team Sportsmanship Award.

McCall hit .435 with 10 doubles and two home runs, including a grand slam. He drove in 24 runs and scored 18. On the mound, the left-hander went 2-1 with a 1.54 earned run average, striking out 81 in 36 1/3 innings. He walked just 25 and held opposing batters to a .089 average against.

First-place Frewsburg placed five players on the First Team in seniors Garrett Brink and Harrison Eckert along with juniors Chase Haglund, Mason Eckman and Aidan Gruber. Brink went 8-0 in eight starts this season with a 1.07 ERA. He struck out 57 in 39 1/3 innings. At the plate, Brink hit .424 with four doubles and a triple while driving in 21 runs and scoring 27. Eckert hit .357 with four doubles and three triples while driving in 18 runs and scoring 16. Haglund went 5-1 in six starts with a 0.40 ERA. He struck out 67 in 35 innings. At the plate, Haglund hit .443 with three doubles, a triple and a home run to go along with 13 RBIs and 39 runs scored. Eckman hit .288 with four doubles and drove in 19 runs while scoring 20. Behind the plate, he caught 98 of the Bears’ 121 defensive innings and allowed just four passed balls. He threw out six opposing runners attempting to steal. Gruber went 3-0 in three starts with a 1.05 ERA. He struck out 44 in 20 innings. At the plate, he hit .333 with three doubles and two home runs while driving in 15 runs and scoring 15.

Second-place Clymer/Sherman/Panama placed four players on the First Team in Tate Catanese, Bryce Hinsdale, Kaden Beckerink and Grant Lictus. Catanese, a junior, hit .441 with three doubles and a triple while driving in nine runs and scoring 17. He also went 4-2 on the mound with a 1.27 ERA while striking out 53 in 44 innings. Hinsdale, also a junior, hit .400 with four doubles and a triple while driving in 14 runs and scoring 14. The left-hander went 4-3 on the mound with a 3.11 ERA while striking out 47 in 33 2/3 innings. Beckerink, a senior, hit .408 with five doubles while driving in 13 runs and scoring 22. On the mound, the right-hander went 4-1 with a 3.07 ERA while striking out 37 in 29 2/3 innings. Lictus, a senior, hit .320 with two doubles and three triples while driving in 14 runs and scoring 11. Behind the plate, he caught 111 of the Wolfpack’s 116 innings and allowed just four passed balls while throwing out nine runners attempting to steal.

Joining McCall on the First Team from third-place Maple Grove were Camden Lombardo and Drew Oste. Lombardo, a junior, hit .286 with a pair of doubles while driving in nine runs and scoring 20. Oste, also a junior, hit .322 with eight RBIs and 13 runs scored.

Hunter Johnson and Bradley Windnagle represented fourth-place Cassadaga Valley on the First Team. Johnson, a senior, went 5-2 with a 1.65 ERA. He struck out 90 in 46 2/3 innings while allowing just 37 hits and walking 20. Windnagle, a junior, hit .254 with three doubles while stealing 35 bases and scoring 17 runs.

For fifth-place Chautauqua Lake, Nate Henry and Devin Hewes were First-Team representatives. Henry, a junior, hit .400 with five doubles while driving in 17 runs and scoring 17. Hewes, a sophomore, went 3-4 with a 3.00 ERA. He struck out 60 in 44 1/3 innings while allowing 39 hits and walking 21.

Seniors Austin McIntyre and Aiden Gatto represented Brocton on the First Team. McIntyre hit .340 with a .429 on-base percentage and a .404 slugging percentage, while Gatto hit .227 with a .375 on-base percentage and .295 slugging percentage. He also went 2-1 with a 2.50 ERA on the mound.

Senior Aaron Fuller was Westfield’s lone representative on the First Team. He hit .366 with four doubles and two home runs while driving in 15 runs and scoring six.
