HANOVER – A Springvale, Maine man has been charged with preying on a 17-year-old girl and exposing himself to her in a Hanover shopping center parking lot on Sunday morning.

Police said the victim was sitting in her car at Hanover Crossing when Justin Graves pulled up next to her in his truck, started staring at her, got out and exposed himself.

Investigators said Graves got back in his truck then started driving circles around the victim’s car twice, honking his horn and trying to get her attention, but she ignored him.

The victim ended up getting help from a nearby business, investigators say. The victim had a good description of the suspect and took a picture of his truck. Officers quickly found him hanging around in the area.

Police say they found drugs, cellphones, and cash on him when he was arrested.

“It really bothers me that that’s what the level of our society has gotten to,” a concerned shopper told WBZ. “That somebody feels free to be that depraved, especially to a young woman.”

Suspect held on $10,000 bail

Graves was arraigned on an Open and Gross Lewdness charge and several drug charges at Hingham District Court on Monday morning. He was held on a $10,000 cash bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for February 11.

WBZ spoke with a mother who said her daughter was also followed.

“You need to always pay attention,” said the woman who did not want to be identified. “Definitely make sure that you go with somebody, make sure that you’re paying attention in front of you.”
