Community partners hosted the ninth annual Main Street Christmas in historic downtown Prattville Thursday evening. Where a festive blend of shopping, music and holiday magic came together for a perfect evening of family fun.
The Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce, the City of Prattville and the Prattville Parks and Recreation Department hosted the nine year tradition together to not only bring a focus of shopping small and local this season, but to bring people downtown to enjoy the views of what looks like should be a Hallmark movie.
“Supporting local small businesses is at the heart of Main Street Christmas because these businesses are the backbone of our community. They create jobs, contribute to the local economy, and provide unique, personalized shopping experiences you can’t find anywhere else. By encouraging our community to shop locally during the holidays, we’re not only supporting these businesses financially but also fostering a sense of community pride and connection,” Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce Marketing and Communications Director, Brooke Glover said.
While shopping locally may not be the most convenient for some, Main Street Christmas is an event that celebrates all things festive and local according to Glover. With an atmosphere of joy and holiday spirit, Glover stated that this event is a chance for families and friends to gather and stroll the beautifully decorated downtown while supporting their neighbors.
“We hope Main Street Christmas reminds our community of the importance of shopping local, not just during the holidays but year-round. For our small businesses, this event can mean increased visibility, foot traffic, and sales during the busiest shopping season. For the community, it’s an opportunity to strengthen relationships, discover hidden gems, and invest in Prattville,” Glover said.
Glover confirmed that the last nine years of this event has grown exponentially and this is now an expected and anticipated tradition that happens downtown.
“It’s incredible to witness the event evolve and become a staple in our community during the most wonderful time of the year. Main Street Christmas is a way to celebrate our community and show appreciation for the small businesses that make Prattville special,” Glover said.
Everyone is welcome at this event and everyone is also encouraged to come down, shop local and experience the charm of downtown Prattville at any time during the year. To support the place that so many call home.
