Lubbock business news includes local produce, Chilton Fest, closure

Must read

Hello A-J readers!

This week in Lubbock brought an interesting mix of business news, including where to buy local produce, a cocktail festival and the announcement of a pending closure.

Several members of the A-J were excited about the announcement of the upcoming Chilton Fest at Little Woodrow’s, 6313 66th St. The celebration will include lemon-themed yard games, lemon drop shots, lemon Jello shots, a live tattoo artist and Chilton tastings. Attendees will receive six tastings with a $10 participation charge.

With that announcement, we had an article that detailed the event, and some of the interesting history about Chiltons in Lubbock.

On Tuesday, June 4, Broadway Fish & More announced their pending closure of the restaurant at 1702 E. Broadway on June 15. The owners are planning to pursue their “dreams in the food truck industry,” according to an announcement on June 4.

The article I am most excited about is the one that mentions all the places people can go for locally-grown produce. In the article, we detailed farmers markets, storefronts, pick-your-own community gardens and a subscription box. This is the first of the weekly agriculture reports that we are planning.

Going into next week, we’ll have the interesting story of a woman who is hoping to expand Wienerschnitzel into South Lubbock. We will also be continuing the weekly agricultural coverage, so stay tuned for all the upcoming projects. And if you have an agricultural idea to pitch, email me at aedgin@lubbockonline.com or Mateo Rosiles at mrosiles@lubbockonline.com.

As always, thank you for reading and supporting the A-J.
