Yates named to Pickleball Hall of Fame

Kyle Yates ​has been named one of two professionals to be inducted​ into the Pickleball Hall of Fame​ in a ceremony N​ov. 14 in Mesa, Ariz.

Yates, 29, a partner in Colorado Pickleball, is the youngest member elected to the Hall. He became a professional pickleball player in 2015, moved to Colorado in 2023, and became a co-owner of The Picklr Colorado.

His goal is to connect the pickleball communities by developing The Picklr franchises across Colorado and Wyoming, according to a news release.

Windsor Public Works earns asset management award

The town of Windsor Public Works team received American Public Works Association (APWA) Asset Management Award for 2024.

The award celebrates Windsor’s innovative and effective management of Public Works assets, ensuring that the town’s infrastructure provides maximum value to the community amid rapid growth, according to a news release.

“We are humbled, honored and at the same time, excited to be recognized for yet another award from the APWA,” Brian Rowe, director of Public Works, said in the release. “This recognition is a testament to our high-performing team’s exceptional efforts and dedication to providing vital services to protect public health and improve the quality of life for Windsor citizens.”

Windsor uses advanced technologies and data-driven decision-making processes that have improved the efficiency and effectiveness of Public Works operations while ensuring that the town’s infrastructure can support its growing population and evolving needs, the release stated.

​• U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Colorado State Director, Crestina M. Martinez, announced that Northern Colorado-based Stan’s Specialty Meats has been awarded a $1.27 million grant through the Meat and Poultry Processing Expansion Program (MPPEP). Funded by President Biden’s American Rescue Plan, first launched in 2022, the program aims to increase meat and poultry processing capacity nationwide.  Stan’s Specialty Meats, a family-owned, small-scale meat processor in Fort Collins, will use the grant to build a new USDA-inspected facility.  This expansion will address the shortage of local USDA-inspected processing services. With this new facility, Stan’s expects to support 50 new producers and create 20 full-time jobs.

• An inventor from Loveland, Peter Driessen has been awarded a patent (No. US 12089665 B2, initially filed June 22, 2023) for “Safety garment with integrated earplugs.”

• A​vago Technologies International of Singapore has been assigned a patent (No. US 12092664 B2, initially filed June 30, 2022) developed by three inventors​: Jay Ackerman​ of Loveland​, Ryan Desrosiers​ of Fort Collins​ and Mark Rutherford​ of Wellington​  for “Layout for integrated resistor with current sense functionality.”

• ​Western Digital Technologies Inc. of San Jose, Calif​., has been assigned a patent (No. US 12092686 B2, initially filed Dec. 14, 2021) developed by seven inventors​,​ including Curtis Adam Harper​ of Berthoud, for “Apparatus and method for electrically coupling a unit under test with a debugging component.”
