Rouses will open its newest supermarket in Picayune, Mississippi on Wednesday, the grocery store chain’s fourth location in the state.
The 40,000-square-foot store is in the River Ridge Shopping Center, at 1701 Highway 43 North. About 150 people will work there.
Donny Rouse said the chain decided to open a store in Pearl River County because customers were crossing the state line to shop at the Slidell location.
“We wanted to bring them a store closer to home,” he said in a statement.
The store will feature all of the amenities boasted at other Rouses locations – a full service seafood department with boiled shrimp and crawfish, a butcher shop with a dry-aged beef locker, a bakery and ready-to-eat items ranging from fried chicken to poke bowls.
Rouses plans to open another south Mississippi store next month, at the corner of Pass and Popp’s Ferry roads in Biloxi. The chain’s other Mississippi locations include Gulfport, Ocean Springs and Diamondhead.
